Lyric Hearing Aids

Lyric Hearing Aids

The Lyric hearing aid, from Phonak, is the first hearing aid designed to be worn for 24 hours a day, for up to four months. This remarkable device, small and worn invisible in the canal, does not require daily battery change or removal for recharging or cleaning within these four months. Its design and flexibility upholds Phonak’s promise that this is a “hearing device so revolutionary, you’ll forget you’re wearing it.”

Created by Phonak

Phonak is a Swiss manufacturer with 70 years of experience designing and creating a number of small electronic devices, from receivers to multi-microphone technology to components of wireless communication. In 2003, Phonak produced the Smart Link, the first hearing aid to wirelessly connect to mobile phones via Bluetooth technology. With a diverse portfolio of electronic products and a restless desire to address hearing loss, Phonak launched Hear the World in 2006. This global initiative works to raise awareness on issues of hearing loss and to brainstorm solutions for the future. Since then, Phonak has released the first water-resistant hearing aid for people with severe hearing loss.

Lyric hearing aids invisible

In 2011, Phonak produced the new and improved Lyric, dubbed “the contact lens of hearing aids.” Worn deep in the ear canal, the Lyric enhances the auditory process by its close proximity to the eardrum. Sounds are received in a way that mirrors the natural process of the ear in normal hearing. As such, wearers will notice an improvement of directionality and focus, to better identify from where sounds are coming and to enhance their sense of space. Additionally, the Lyric eliminates background noise and feedback that may otherwise be distracting to the wearer.

How discreet are Lyric hearing aids?

Aesthetically, the invisibility of the Lyric is beneficial for people who want to avoid the taboo of wearing a hearing aid. In terms of accessibility, the Lyric does not need to be removed during showers. However, the Lyric is water resistant, not waterproof, and therefore should not be submerged completely in water. Lyric hearing aids should be removed when underwater or swimming.

The Benefits of Lyric Hearing Aids

As most electronic devices in recent years have become streamlined and adaptable to users’ daily lives and routines, the Lyric answers the desire for a hearing aid that is hassle-free and simple. After a few months of wear, you simply visit your hearing instrument specialist who removes your current device and replaces it with a newly charged one. Due to its design, an evaluation by a hearing professional is necessary before determining if the Lyric is a good fit for you. At Hearing Centers of Arizona, we are able to determine whether your degree of hearing loss is treatable by the Lyric, which is designed to treat mild to moderate degrees of hearing loss. We will also determine whether your ear canal is conducive to holding this device.

According to Phonak,

“88% of Lyric users agree that Lyric comes close to giving them their natural hearing back, and a whopping 93% would recommend the Lyric to a friend or loved one.”
